The National Education Inspectorate (NEI) is responsible for quality assurance in just over 1,000 public primary and secondary schools in Jamaica. Ms Whitter’s visit follows a visit to the National Education Inspectorate in June 2024 by IESE Director, Professor Paul Miller.
During her visit, Karah shared her in-depth knowledge of the inspection process, highlighting the importance of meticulous attention to detail and compliance with educational standards. She disclosed that the NEI’s work in inspecting schools in Jamaica over the past decade was contributing significant improvements in practice, and well as in identifying and understanding of gaps in practice and outcomes. Commenting on the visit, IESE Director, Professor Paul Miller said: “We are pleased to have hosted Ms. Whitter, and to have engaged in further discussion about how the institute can help advance and promote the NEI’s work and research agenda. As we continue our mission to advance equity and excellence in education, the opportunity to work with the NEI represents a significant step forward. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and to applying knowledge and insights gained to positively impact educational standards in the UK and Jamaica.”
For her part, Ms. Karah Whitter noted: “I am excited about the possibility of strengthening the NEI’s research output through this well-needed partnership. Translating vast amounts of data into relevant and practical research information and published papers is critical for recording our organisation’s work and documenting Jamaica’s history”.
